Mitchel Early Mason

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Mitchel Early Mason, 71, who passed away at Iberia Medical Center.

A visitation will take place Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Saturday.

Rev Gabriel will officiate at the funeral Mass.

Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.

Mitchel honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and the Reserve for 21 years as a Sergeant. He retired from The Riverside Sheriff Department as a transporter, guard, and clerk with 29 years of service. Mitchell enjoyed collecting cars, watching TV in his recliner, going to estate sales, and was an avid LSU and Saints fan, and was always happy when his favorite player, Kamara, played and helped win the game. He will be remembered for the love and respect he had for his country, his kindness and generosity, and how well he kept his cars and truck clean.

He is survived by wife, Diana Mason; daughter, Michelle (Ljando) Pinkney and Lanetta (Lee) Sims; stepson, DeDrick Donnell; stepchildren, Fajr (Roderick) Gulley, Edna Donnell, and Marell (Derick) Calhoun; sisters, Joseph (Marantha) Mason, and Bertha Wiltz; and his grandchild, Ljasia Pinkney.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivon and Vivian Louis Mason; and his sister, Mary Atrice Jacquet.

Pallbearers will be Charmar Ledet, Sean Mason, Dillion Mason, Zack Gulley, Derick Calhoun, and Roderick Gulley.
