Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Moise "Hobo" James LeBlanc, Jr., 89, who passed away on February 16, 2024, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM on Wednesday by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert.
Deacon Butch Hebert will officiate at the funeral service. Readers will be Leryn LeBlanc and Leiton LeBlanc.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Moise, better known to his family and friends, as "Hobo", was born in Port Acres, Texas, and honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Moise dedicated himself to various roles throughout his life. His career spanned 35 years with the U.S. Soil Conservation Services, where his hard work and commitment stood as a testament to his character. For a decade, he served as the Police Jury Superintendent, shaping his community with wisdom and care. His contributions extended far beyond local activities; he served on the Louisiana State Levee Board and officiated at the Oilman's Bass Classic. His involvement showcased his dedication to environmental conservation and love for outdoor pursuits.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Hobo was a Founding Member of the Breaux Bridge Quarter Back Club, he nurtured young talents and fostered a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship. His membership in the Pelba Hunting Club reflected his love for the outdoors and camaraderie among fellow hunting enthusiasts.
In addition to his professional endeavors and community engagements, Hobo found joy in simple pleasures. Whether deer hunting in nature's embrace, tending to his cattle with care, or delighting his family with Sunday barbecues, he found solace in life's uncomplicated moments. His love for old western movies added a touch of nostalgia to his leisure hours.
He is survived by his spouse, Aeola Thibodeaux LeBlanc; sons, Quin Anthony LeBlanc (Kayla), Brett Paul LeBlanc (Rhonda), and Vira John LeBlanc (Nicole); sister, Rena Courville (Guy); grandchildren, Leryn LeBlanc, Britt LeBlanc, Makala LeBlanc, Austin LeBlanc, Leiton LeBlanc, Paige LeBlanc, and Brett "Buddy" LeBlanc, II; and his great-grandchildren, Klyne Richaud, Kensley Fitch, Idalie LeBlanc, and Jaxon LeBlanc.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Moise LeBlanc and Julia Hardy LeBlanc; sister, Bertha Willis; and his brother, Hardy John LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Quin, Vira, Brett, Britt, Austin, and Buddy LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Courville, Robbie Courville, and Matt Willis.
