Myrtile "Joe" Theriot

Breaux Bridge - Myrtile Joseph “Joe” Theriot, 70, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Joe, often called “Popa Joe” by his family and friends, proudly served with the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in the Louisiana National Guard for six years. His lifetime career as a boat captain started off at Koch Oil Company (which was later bought out by Cenac and then later by Enterprise companies). He retired at the age of 62. Joe always had a positive spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved his family unconditionally and was a very kind and generous soul who never met a stranger. After his retirement, Joe enjoyed his yard and had a green thumb and enjoyed growing his plants. He is survived by his son, Shannon Theriot; four grandchildren, Allie Theriot, Katie Theriot, Skylee Theriot, and Si Theriot; great granddaughter, Evelyn; companion, Barbara Schexnyder; four sisters, Martha Swiney, Linda Huval (Norris), Lena LeBlanc (Shane), and Audrey Marks; two brothers, Eugene "Gene" Theriot (Cindy) and Clement "Clem" Theriot (Betty); and his sister-in-law, Linda Cady. He was preceded in death by his father, Myrtile Vernon Theriot; mother, Hilda Marie Bourque Dugas; son, Brian Theriot; foster brother, John Cady; three brothers-in-law, Pat Marks, Jim Swiney, and Allen Berard. There will be no service will be held.
