St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Mallalieu United Methodist Church in St. Martinville, for Myrtle C. Alexander, 78, who passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Mallalieu United Methodist Church from 8:00 am until time of service on Saturday. Pastor Valla Johnson will officiate at the Funeral Service, with eulogy by Reverend Dr. Joe Connelly. Interment will follow at Mallalieu United Methodist Cemetery in Saint Martinville. Myrtle was a member of Mallalieu United Methodist Church in St. Martinville where she enjoyed attending her weekly services and Bible Study on Wednesday. She loved watching TV, walking, cooking, shopping and visiting with her family and friends. She will be remembered for all the wonderful meals that she prepared for her family on special occasions and the love that was given to each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Sheriba Menard and husband Edward of St. Martinville, Resteray Alexander of St. Martinville, Sybil Jordan and husband Clifton of Port Allen, LA, Valerie Louis of New Iberia; son, Christopher Alexander of St. Martinville; step-son, Danny Kately and wife Sydnie Mae of Lafayette, LA; brothers, Royal Chambers and wife Shelby of Delcambre, Lawrence Chambers, Jr. and wife Rose of Sacramento, CA, Bernise Chambers of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Mary Fezzia of New Iberia, Loucinda Bonner of New Iberia, Consuella Williams and husband Clyde of Missouri City, TX; grandchildren, Lakindra, Chandler, Brandy, Angel, Dennis, Elizabeth, David, and Mary Catherine; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Alexander; second husband, Avery Charles; parents, Lawrence Chambers, Sr. and Geraldine Chambers; brothers, Ernest and Earl Chambers; and sister, Geraldine Chambers. Pallbearers will be Chandler Chretien, Dennis Menard, David Louis, Jr., Marcus Calligan, Jr., Juston Chretien, and Frankie Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford Cormier, Christopher Alexander, Lawrence Chambers, Jr., Bernise Chambers, Sr., Royal Chambers, Sr., Raymond Fontenette, Thaddeus Williams, Clyde Williams, Clifton Jordan, Jr., and Edward Menard.
