Nellie LeBlanc

October 13, 1933 — March 10, 2011

"Amazing Grace" "Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come; 'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home." Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Breaux Bridge for Nellie Angelle LeBlanc, 77, who passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2. Father Paul LaFleur will officiate at the funeral service. Nellie Angelle LeBlanc was born in Cecilia, LA on October 13, 1933. At a very young age she realized she would be faced with many challenges. With Amazing Grace, Courage and Perseverance she faced each one. She fell in love and married the love of her life, Arthur LeBlanc, and gave birth to six children. Very busy with her young family, she received the news that her husband had been killed in a work related accident. She was 33 years old. Never one to ask 'Why Me', she marched on with help from angels on earth who saw her need, her in-laws, Arthur and Clemence LeBlanc, who lived next door. Her husband's only brother, Gerald LeBlanc, along with his wife Ginny, were a wonderful support and never far away. As well as, her neighbor and guardian angel, Hilda Thibodeaux, along with her family, who watched over her faithfully, and her dear sister, 'Taya', who was taxi-driver and surrogate mother outside the home. Later in life, as her struggles became harder, she found ways to accomplish more than some who are able bodied. In her more recent years God sent her even more angels, namely Shirley Guidry, who always went way beyond her call of duty, Rita Courville, Elaine Johnson, and Joyce Lecompte, who started out as caregivers and quickly became friends. Moma lived everyday for the opportunity to get to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She adored each and every one of them. 'Thank you Moma for living and devoting your life to us.' We would like to thank Dr. Warren Degatur, Wendy Fuselier and Karen McFaul, who during the course of her treatment became part of her extended family. We also want to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff of St. Martin Hospital, Concepts of Care Home Health, and most especially to Doc LeVasseur and Rebecca Turner, for the excellent care and respect shown to our mother. Nellie is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Calais her husband, Ricky, and their three children, Claire Calais Broussard (Colby), Ross and Kyle Calais, Jeannese Guidry and her husband Dicky, and their three children, Jacques (Lyndsey), Jesse Guidry, and Jordan Guidry Hebert (Jake), and Bertha Delahoussaye and her husband, John, and their two children, Daniel and Dane; her three sons Kenneth "Doc" LeBlanc and his wife, Faye, and their three children, Arthur "Art", Elyse, and Christopher, Bryan LeBlanc and his wife, Therese', and Phillip LeBlanc and his wife, Terri, and their four children, Trey (Heather), Trevor (Kristi), Trent, and Ty; and three great grandchildren, Paige, Carter, and Parker Broussard. She was preceded in death by husband, Arthur LeBlanc; her parents, Dalton J. and Lapal A. Angelle; her step mother, Ophelia P. Angelle; five brothers, Jim, Duval, Louis, and Errol Angelle, and an infant brother, Huey Angelle; three sisters, Italia "Taya" Dejean, Susie Taylor, and Mavis Latiolais; and two grandchildren, Kyle Arthur LeBlanc and Jerrod Anthony Guidry. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday and continue on Sunday at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening. Honored to serve as her pallbearers are her grandsons, Jacques, Daniel, Jesse, Trey, Art, Ross, Dane, Kyle, Trevor, Trent, Ty, and Christopher.
