Octavia Mary Hebert

St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 25, 2026 at Notre Dame Catholic Church honoring the life of Octavia "Totsie" Hebert, 80, who passed away on September 15, 2026.

A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville on Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:45.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Friday.

Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, S.V.D officiate at the funeral mass.

Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Mausoleum.

Born on June 30, 1946, in New Iberia, Louisiana, Octavia dedicated her life to caring for others and bringing joy to those around her.

Octavia worked as a caregiver in the home health industry for many years, a role that fulfilled her passion for helping others. She was also employed at Martin Mills, where she made lasting connections with her colleagues. A proud graduate of Adam Carson High, Class of 1964, she was a majorette and a valued member of the Purplettes Softball Team, demonstrating her love for sports and community involvement.

She was actively engaged in her community as a past president of the police juror council and a dedicated participant in Camp Bluebird, a support group for cancer survivors where she formed many meaningful friendships.

Known for her love of bingo and trips to the casino, Octavia enjoyed life to the fullest. She found joy in playing solitaire and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Magdeline Gardner; son, Russell Hebert, Jr. (Darlene), Rapheal Hebert, Sr. (Precious), Nessina Raymond (Matthew), and Terrance Hebert; grandchildren, LaShell McClue, Niecy Hebert, LaDeia Tucker, Brandy Hebert, Key Haynes, Travin Hebert, Kaelyn Hebert, Reindon Raymond, Khameron Hebert, Matthew Raymond, Jr., Makale Hebert, Khemyn Hebert, Terriana Hebert, Donavence Hebert, Rapheal Hebert, Jr., Terryn Hebert, Daryel Ledet, III, Jaidyn Narcisse, Dilaysia Narcisse; and one sister, Della Orphe.

She is preceded in death by her father, Eddie Francis, Sr.; mother, Mary Landry; brothers, Wilson Etienne, Ayward Francis, Eddie Francis, Jr., Fred James, Joseph Fontenette, Murphy Francis, and Junius Francis; and sisters, Leola Porter and Ula Landry.

Octavia Mary Hebert will be remembered as a kind-hearted, strong woman who left an indelible impact on her family and community. Her spirit will live on through the love and memories she created during her time with us.

Pallbearers will be Kendall Landry, Breck McClue, Demetrius Tucker, Lyndon Raymond, Purvis Cormier, and Keyvin Perrodin.
