Odette "Oddie" Hebert

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for Odette “Oddie” Hebert, 64, who passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Very Rev. William Blanda will be the Celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Cody Hebert, Farrell Armentor, Dallas Hebert, Brian Hebert, Rusty Sumerall, and Randy Girouard.

A lifelong area resident, Odette “Oddie” Marie Hebert was born on July 18, 1960, to the late George Hebert, Jr. and Mary Louise Guillotte Hebert. A hard worker, she spent an incredible 45 years at Bruce Foods, now known as Summit Hill Foods. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her strong character and work ethic, and it is bittersweet that she retired on the very day she left this world.

Oddie had an undeniable love for the thrill of the casino—a place where fortunes could change in an instant, and laughter echoed through the air. It was there that she found joy and excitement, embracing every moment with her infectious spirit. Creative and skillful, Oddie also enjoyed woodworking and shooting pool. She found solace and satisfaction in crafting beautiful pieces from wood, and the pool hall was often the backdrop to laughter and friendly competition.

However, what truly filled Oddie's heart was her love for animals. She had an enchanting bond with her beloved dog, Paco, and her affectionate cats, Yaya and Punkin. To Oddie, they weren't just pets; they were cherished members of her family, bringing her comfort and companionship.

Oddie's connection with her family was one of profound closeness, a source of support and deep love that resonated throughout her life. She fostered those relationships with care, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Oddie is survived by siblings, Katherine Viator (Kenneth Daigle), Lydia Wycoff (Bill), Dolores Stoltz (Duke), Liz Delcambre (Jody), Dallas Hebert (Adrie’Ann), Brian Hebert, David Hebert (Danielle), and Genevieve Baudoin; good friend, Farrell Armentor; godchildren, Stacy Hebert, Treilyn Pellegrin, and Joey Hebert; numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Randy Girouard (Charlene); and special young men who were dear to her heart, Rusty Sumrall and Mikie Sonnier, who were like children to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion, Linda Sumrall; siblings, Raymond Gaspard, Eve Aucoin, Lorraine Noel, Jennifer Bonin, Herman Hebert, and George Hebert III; and sister-in-law, Pamela Hebert.

Although Oddie may no longer walk among us, the joy she spread and the bonds she forged will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace.
