Paul H. Romero

August 2, 1946 — February 28, 2011

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Paul H. 'Tickey' Romero, 64, who passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. The motorcycle hearse will lead a procession of motorcyles, family and friends to St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 2 in Breaux Bridge for interment. Fr. Louis Allen Breaux will conduct the services. A dedicated and loving father and grandfather, Tickey was married for 33 years to his sweetheart Judy Hebert Romero. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Ryan and Robbie. Tickey was able to share his many talents with his sons, and this was his greatest joy in life. Tickey loved nature. He always had a dog at his side. For many years Tickey and Judy loved meeting friends, going on motorcycle adventures and camping at Toledo Bend. He also loved tinkering with cars, was a master mechanic and for many years enjoyed refurbishing/restoring classic cars. Each year during the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, relatives and friends from Texas would spend the weekend with Judy and Tickey boiling crawfish, sharing stories and drinking beer. Tickey enjoyed riding his motorcycle, helping family and friends, spoiling his grandson and working with his sons. He was self employed and loved working his excavator, backhoe and Bob Cat. His friends dropped by his shop daily to visit with him and discussed what problems they could solve that day. Tickey was a member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG). He was also a member of the Breaux Bridge Masonic Lodge No. 476. Survivors include his wife, Judy Hebert Romero; sons, Ryan Paul Romero and his wife, Tailee and Robbie Jude Romero; grandson, Silas Paul Romero, all of Breaux Bridge; brother, Douglas Romero and his wife, Claire of Breaux Bridge; sisters, W.M. 'Cooch' Briggs and her husband, Jim, Lisa Romero and Annette Romero and her companion, Toni Stovall all of Breaux Bridge; nieces, Tiffany R. Gautreaux and Charlsey Briggs both of Breaux Bridge, nephews, Colby Romero, W.C. Romero, Brody Romero and Cory Briggs all of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Romero, Jr. and Aline Dore Romero and a brother, William S. 'Billy' Romero. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be John Delahoussaye, Ronnie Dore, Jimmie Durio, Rocky (Black) Hebert, Kenny Lecompte, and Ray Robin.
