Pearl Prade

St. Martinville - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Pearl Anne Prade, 87, who passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at her residence. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Rev. Justin Arockiasamy officiated at the funeral service. The reader was Shelley Robertson and the gift bearers were Stacey Prade, Ismay Savoy, Craig and Coby LeBlanc. The eulogy was delivered by Collins Robertson. Pearl was devoted to her snowball business and the many generations of children who enjoyed her delicious treats. She was known as the 'Snowball Lady' with a beautiful smile. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and had a great compassion for people. She was a faithful member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She was an excellent and talented decorator who made all of her Christmas decorations. Her gentle smile and hearty laugh will be greatly missed. Survivors include her nephew, Edward 'Baby' Robertson, whom she raised as a son and with whom she operated Babes Snowball stand for over 50 years; her loving niece, Sharlene Horton, whom she raised as her daughter and husband, James Horton, all of St. Martinville. Family members considered her a second mother, especially Gregory LeBlanc, whom she also raised as a son. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Caldwell and Teresa St. Julien Prade; her brothers, Howard, William and Caldwell Prade, Jr.; her sisters, Edna Robertson, Iola Robertson, Doris Broussard and Ismay Fields. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7 a.m. until time of service at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 25, 2011. A rosary was recited at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers were Gregory LeBlanc, Jim Horton, Collins Robertson, Travis Robertson, Ramon Robertson and Howard Prade, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
