A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Pearlie was born on February 28, 1933, to the late Nichol Jean Romero, Sr. and Thelma Comeaux Romero. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and gret-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She was lovingly know as Maw or Ms Pearlie.
Mrs. Pearlie had a deep love for cooking, especially her famous fried chicken which everyone looked forward to. She could effortessly prepare a meal large enough to feed her family of six. She could stretch a chicken or round steak like it was science, making sure there was always a hot meal. She loved babysitting and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
In addition, Pearlie loved sewing crocheting blankets, often creating a beautiful piece without a pattern. Family gatherings were always special to her, as she enjoyed being the center of attention, until her illness took it away for her. She also had a love for ice cream, eating it straight out of the carton.
Survivors include her children, Gloria Romero Pommier (Keith) of New Iberia, Barbara Romero Landry (Steve) of Youngsville, Raymond Romero, Jr. (Ann) of Youngsville, and Daniel Romero (Lynn) of New Iberia; grandchildren, Raymond Romero, III (Mandie), Ryan Romero (Sarah), Shannon Albert (Martha), Clay Romero (Mary), Chris Landry (Lauren), Jeramy Landry (Melissa), Vicki Lambert (Roy), and Zoda Bourque II; great grandchildren, Macie, Carter and Isabella Romero, Annelise, Karalee, Brielle, and Colt Romero, Bailey (Cayla), Karlie (Thorn), and Rylee Albert (Gavin), Alyssa, and Ethan Romero, Christopher, Hannah, and Jonathan Landry, Owen Landry, Reese, Ryan, and Rivers Rudiger, Madison, Jordyn, and Raelyn Lambert; great great grandchildren, Oliver Albert, Ivey Theriot, and baby Theriot due in February; numerous granddogs and great granddogs; half siblings, Reynolds Romero (Maria), Kevin Romero, Melinda Taylor, and Karen Trim (Leon).
