New Iberia - Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, on Monday, June 20, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Perry J. Decuir Sr., 93, who passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 2:30 PM.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Decuir was born on September 5, 1922 to Wilton "Toon" Decuir and Maria LeBlanc Decuir. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines during World War II on Russell Island near the Guadalcanal, and was a member of the Marine Corp. League. Mr. Decuir was the co-owner of Klein Deco Wireline Service, the owner of Unlimited Fabricators, and was also an inventor, holding several patents on tools that he invented. His hobbies included playing golf, making wine, and gardening.
Survivors include his daughters, Virginia Shea and husband Jimmy of New Iberia, Linda Moncla and husband Tom of Lafayette, Laurie Barake and husband Ali of Lafayette, Andy Palmer and husband Joel of Broussard; sons, Perry Decuir and wife Jenny of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Tom Decuir and wife Ginny of Portland, Oregon; sister, Elsie Decuir Pouliot of New Iberia; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren due to arrive in November.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Lois Prosper Decuir; an infant son, Timothy; brothers, Oswald Decuir, Sr., and Leroy Decuir; and a sister, Ida Decuir DeHart.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mr. Decuir's caregivers Becky Hill Etienne, Vivian St.Julien, Lena Hill, Angela Celestine, and Sheena Francisco.
