New Iberia – Memorial services will be held at First Methodist Church of New Iberia at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, for Philip R. Freimann.

Rev. Xavier Torres will officiate.

Visitation will be at First Methodist Church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

Philip Ronald Freimann, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2026, in Jeanerette, LA. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John Jacob Freiman and Dorothy Maude Turner Freimann. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Frederick Freiman of Riverside, CA.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years and 8 months, Janice Elaine McGuire Freimann; his children, Rebekah Freimann Prudhomme (wife of Kerry Prudhomme) of New Iberia, Louisiana, John David Freimann of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Sarah Elizabeth Freimann of Daytona Beach, Florida.

A devout Christian from a very early age, Philip loved to study the Bible and dedicated his life to serving God and others. Together, he and his wife Janice served faithfully in every church they attended. Two of the most fulfilling times were when Philip was the youth pastor at First Assembly of God, Waukesha, Wisconsin throughout the 1970s and when he taught Adult Bible Study Classes at Frazer United Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL and at Covenant United Methodist Church, Port Orange, FL in the 1990s and early 2000s. While serving as youth pastor, Philip was also the church organist, music minister, and choir director. He and Janice also sang in a Gospel Quartet and as a duet in churches and on the radio. He was credentialed by the Assemblies of God in the early 1980s and pastored a church in Havre de Grace, MD.

Philip’s professional life reflected both intellect and adaptability. He built a successful career in the emerging and evolving field of computers, beginning with IBM mainframes in the late 1960s and advancing from data processing into programming, systems analysis, consulting, software implementation, training, and management. His skills were in high demand, and his career brought him from Wisconsin, to Maryland, Virginia, Alabama, and finally Florida. He retired from Crane Cams in Daytona Beach, FL in 2006, where he had served as the Director of Information Technology for 6 years.

Philip had a deep love for family history and genealogy, researching his ancestors back many generations. Philip was an officer in the Blaisdell Family National Association from 1990-2010, serving in various offices including President, Associate Genealogist, and editor of The Blaisdell Papers, one of the oldest family history publications in the U.S.

He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him, most especially by his devoted wife and children who knew him simply as a wonderfully loving husband and Daddy.

A charity very dear to his heart is The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews which he supported faithfully for over 20 years.
