Breaux Bridge- A funeral service will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge on Monday, December 29, 2025 for Philip Allen Green, better known as Allen, was born on July 13, 1934, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, to George and Lydia Green. From the beginning, he showed a deep curiosity about the world around him. A gifted student, he graduated as valedictorian of Breaux Bridge High School, where he also earned the state history award-an early sign of a lifelong love of learning that never left him.
He went on to attend Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, earning a degree in electrical engineering in 1956. Soon after, Allen joined the United States Air Force, where his intellect and discipline led him to further study meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His service to his country continued for many years through the Air Force Reserves.
Allen's professional career reflected both innovation and dedication. He worked as an engineer for General Electric in Utica, New York, contributing to a number of pioneering projects, including early tape recorder technology. He later joined Xerox, working in Rochester, New York, and Los Angeles, California. He continued his education while working and earned his MBA.
After retirement, Allen returned to his beloved hometown of Breaux Bridge, where he embraced the simple pleasures that brought him joy. He loved fishing, hiking, traveling, and immersing himself in history. An avid reader, Allen was endlessly curious and thoughtful, always eager to understand how things worked and why the past mattered. He was also a devoted Cajun music aficionado and could often be found on Saturday mornings at Tante Marie's, enjoying the Cajun Music Breakfast-music, community, and tradition close to his heart.
Allen is survived by his two daughters, Susan Green and Melanie Jacobs; three grandchildren, Jesse Jacobs and wife Haily, Devin Stephens, Hannah Smith; and one great-grandchild, David Jacobs. He also leaves behind his cousin and close friend, David Green, and his sister-in-law and dear friend, Emmaline Thibodeaux.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carroll Green, William Green, and Richard Green.
Philip Allen Green will be remembered for his sharp mind, wit, love of learning, and deep appreciation for his roots. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the knowledge he pursued, and the life well lived between innovation and tradition.
