St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Friday, August 12, 2016, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Phillip Joseph Bourque, 83, who passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 9:45 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Gift bearers will be Sydney Martien and Blair Mosbacker. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Phillip was born and raised in St. Martinville to the late Superville and Josephine Barras Bourque. Phillip was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Japan. He was in the first graduating class in Petroleum Engineering at SLI, now known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After college he raised his family in Morgan City where he worked in both the oil field and banking industry. Phillip enjoyed hunting, golfing, and gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Annette Martien and husband Edgar "Eddie" and Mary Beth Mosbacker and husband Matthew; sister, Oline Gary; grandchildren, Sydney Lauren Martien, Evan Jacob Mosbacker, and Blair Arden Mosbacker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hattie "Sis" Bourque; infant daughter, Renee Bourque; parents; adoptive parents, Martin and Paola Ducrest; brother, Wade Bourque; sisters, Lucille Berard, Henrietta Bienvenu, Velma Berard, and Theresa Faught.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Martien, Matthew Mosbacker, Evan Jacob Mosbacker, Chummy Bourque, Manning Duhon, and David Bienvenu.
Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Sydney Lauren Martien and Blair Arden Mosbacker.
