Phyllis Olivier Raggette

New Iberia - Phyllis Ann Olivier Raggette was born on June 25, 1941, and departed this life on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 3:25 a.m.  She was a resident of New Iberia, Louisiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, in Lydia. Entombment will follow in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, in Patoutville.

Rev. Randy Courville will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Friday, from 9:00 am until 12 noon, at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Friday.

Phyllis was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class and was awarded a scholarship to attend college but duty at home required her to forego her scholarship. She worked as a nurse’s aide in the OB/GYN ward of Iberia Medical Center after graduating from high school.  

Phyllis later worked as a Human Resource Specialist for Sears and Roebuck for over 20 years, retiring and coming back home to New Iberia, Louisiana where she realized a goal of building her dream home. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, writing words of inspiration to those near and dear to her heart, and making pecan candy for her brothers and sisters. She passed on her love of cooking to her three sons.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia, Louisiana.   Phyllis served as a Eucharistic minister and worked with the religious program at her church.

Phyllis was blessed with 3 loving and devoted children, all boys. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Aaron Raggette Jr. (Denise) of Ballwin, Missouri, Keith Anthony Raggette Sr (Carolyn) of La Vernia, Texas and Jeffery Gerard Raggette (Lesly) of Manteca, California.  Phyllis was also the grandmother of 7 grandchildren: Brandon, Danielle (Christian), Erin (Luke), Keith Jr., Jarrett, Justin, and Lexi and 1 great granddaughter, Emersyn; and nine siblings Jeanette, Diane, Athan Jr, Antoine, Eugene, Daphie, Clyde, Stephon, Dexter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Athan and Mabel Olivier.
