New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, for Ray James Leleux, 88, who passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Iberia Honor Guard.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be Monday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home, and it will continue Tuesday, from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm, on Monday at Pellerin Funeral Home.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Leleux was born on November 4, 1937, to the late Clet and Florence Broussard Leleux. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Mr. Leleux worked for many years at Voorhies Supply and Ace Hardware. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3425, the American Legion, and a past member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed sitting outside and watching the birds and going to the casino. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Kevin Paul Leleux (Susan) of New Iberia and Paula Raye Leleux Gourneau (Mark) of Dickson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jayke Michael Ellis (Christina), Mitchell Ellis, Kelle' Kastelic (Parker), Summer Gourneau, Harrison Gourneau, and Chance Jude Leleux; great grandchildren, Hayden Kuntz, Skylar Kuntz, Luke Kuntz, Seraphina Ellis, Ada Ellis, Evander Ellis, and Daphne Kastelic; godchild who was like his daughter, Andrea Viator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Genevieve Babineaux Leleux, and a brother, Roy Leleux.
Pallbearers will be Marty Babineaux, Chance Leleux, Jayke Ellis, Mitchell Ellis, Harrison Gourneau, and Mark Gourneau.
Honorary pallbearers include Barry Duhon, Donna Duhon, Michael Guidry and Gordy Babineaux.
The family would like to give special thanks to his goddaughter, Andrea Viator, his son and daughter-in-law, Susan for their love and care that they give to him, to Will Langlinais for bring him communion every week, the Veterans Administration, and to Home Sweet Home.
