New Iberia – Raymond Raul Garza passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Iberia Medical Center at the age of 78.

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

Private interment will be at a later date.

A longtime resident of New Iberia, Raymond Raul Garza was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 8, 1947, to the late Ramon and Rose Reyes Garza. Having worked in the oilfield for most of his career, Raymond retired as a wireline operator for Schlumberger.

Raymond was passionate about music. He was a talented songwriter and loved playing old records, and jamming to his favorite band, The Rolling Stones.

Raymond loved to test his luck by playing the Lottery; he strategized by picking his own Lotto numbers. He thrived being among the lights and sounds at the casino, where he was known as the “Slot King.”

Raymond was very friendly and giving. He never met a stranger. He loved visiting with people and always would know someone everywhere he went.

Raymond cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially family vacations spent in Galveston and Panama City Beach. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Mr. Garza is survived by his children, Natalie Garza Jeanminette (Steve), and Ramon Garza; grandchildren, Kyndal LeBlanc, Brennan Jeanminette, Jase Jeanminette, Kane Garza, Devin Garza, and Aaliyah Garza; and siblings, Olivia Garza, Georgia Corrales, Linda Garza, Paul Garza, Chris Garza, and Julain Garza.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond’s kind spirit will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.
