New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, April 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Rena Dugas Babineaux, 84 who died Friday, April 1, 2011 in New Iberia , surrounded by her family. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery . Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Scriptures will be read by granddaughters Misti Thorne and Laurie LaBauve. Gifts will be presented to the Altar by granddaughters Angel Lopez, Alice Abraham, and Abby Babineaux. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia , Mrs. Babineaux was born on March 16, 1927 . She was the daughter of the late Avery Dugas and the former Eronie Lopez of New Iberia . Along with her husband, she was part owner of Chester Babineaux Plumbing and Acadiana Mobile Home Park. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, watching the Saints and baseball. She leaves behind to share the joyful memories of her life, her devoted husband of 64 years, Chester Babineaux; her children, Terry Babineaux and his wife Barbara, and their two children, Marcus Babineaux and wife Shawntelle, and Misti Thorne and husband Ryan; Debra Abraham and her husband Kenneth, and their three children, Angel Lopez and husband Troy, Kennon Abraham and wife Denise, and Alice Abraham; Rodney Babineaux and wife Terry, and their two children Laurie LaBauve and husband Tommy, and Seth Babineaux and wife Stephanie; and granddaughter, Abby Babineaux; great grandchildren, Taylore, Darryon, and Peyton Babineaux, Hanah Thorne, Shelby and Mason Lopez, Kyle Abraham, Caroline, Courtlyn, and Camille LaBauve; and two step great granddaughters, Lawren Thorne and Emery Maroney; sisters, Jean Chafin and Anna Norris and husband Otto; brother, Gilbert Dugas and wife Betty. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Kim Babineaux; a brother, Alden Dugas; a godchild, Danny Breaux; and a very special niece Joyce Romero. Pallbearers will be Terry, Marcus, Rodney, Seth, and Darryon Babineaux, Kenneth and Kennon Abraham. Honorary pallbearers include Troy Lopez, Ryan Thorne, and Tommy LaBauve. The family would like to sincerely thank all involved for their help, loving care, and support given to their mother, especially Hospice of Acadiana for helping us make our mothers last days very comfortable.
