Rene Michael St. Upery

New Iberia - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rene Michael St. Upery, who died peacefully at home on Monday, May 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in The Bridge Cemetery.

Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue Monday, from 10:00 am until 1:15 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday.

Rene is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Beverley Rose St. Upery; his two loving daughters, Jeanne St. Upery Menard (Vince) and Michelle St. Upery Andre (Hugh); his three cherished granddaughters, Raegan Rene Menard (fiancé, Kyler Laparouse), Holland Avery Prince, and Isla Rose Prince; and his three bonus grandsons, H. Matthew Andre, Izaac William Andre, and Spencer Joseph Andre. He is also survived by his siblings Sandra S. DeRouen (Mark), Ricky J. St. Upery (Toni), Toni S. Fremin (Ross), Mark L. St. Upery (Tracy), and Andre P. St. Upery (Simone).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel Lawrence St. Upery and Rita Mae St. Upery, as well as his siblings Glenn D. St. Upery, Wayne L. St. Upery, and Chris S. Guidry.

Rene was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from being a proud “girl dad” and later a loving “girl granddad.” He treasured every moment spent with his daughters and granddaughters, who were the heart of his world.

A true outdoorsman, Rene found peace on the water and loved nothing more than a good day of fishing. He was a big fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints, cheering on his teams with unwavering loyalty.

Rene graduated from Catholic High School in New Iberia, Class of 1972, where he proudly played football, an experience he cherished and often shared stories about throughout his life.

He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.

Professionally, Rene spent more than 50 years in the electronics repair industry. His dedication, skill, and work ethic led him to become the co-owner of R&R Electronics, where he built a reputation for honesty, expertise, and kindness.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bobby Broussard, Vic Segura, Jimmy Shea, Jed Lopez, Felix Gonsoulin, and New Iberia Catholic High School Class of 1972 for their many visits, support, prepared meals and years of dedicated friendship.

A very special thank you to Nurse Paula Leonard, Nurse Seth Porche and Nurse Laura Thibodeaux for their loving and compassionate care of Rene.
