St. Martinville- A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 09, 2025 at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Renee Fournet Richter, 77, who passed away on August 6, 2025.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Saturday from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
Rev. Weldon Moak will officiate at the funeral service.
Burial will follow at Fournet Family Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Renee spent her life dedicated to teaching, family, and the arts. She was a proud member of the USL Marching Band during her college years and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education. A retired school teacher, she touched the lives of countless students throughout her career, instilling in them a love for learning and creativity. In addition to her teaching, she shared her passion for music by teaching piano to children in her community.
Renee's heart expanded far beyond her biological children; she lovingly adopted five children, ensuring that her home was filled with love, laughter, and warmth. Outside of her professional and family life, Renee was known for her love of crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by those who received them.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Donald Richter; children, Ryan D. (Jessi) Richter, Joseph T. Richter, Laurie A. Barnwell, Melissa M. Richter, Jonathan P. (Angelle) Richter and Jason B. Richter; step mother Patricia Fournet; brothers, Kenneth (Rachel) Fournet, Jr. and Dr. Timothy (Liz) Fournet; sisters, Carrie Curet, Cheryl (Mark) Lambert and Susan Elaine (Flabio Perez) Fournet; grandchildren, Thomas Richter, Blaine A. Duplechain, Ethan Barnwell, Noah Richter, Mason Richter, Arianne Richter, Hayes Richter, Elliot Richter and Haiden Richter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Kenneth Fournet, Sr. and Elsie Cooper Fournet; sister, Cynthia Fournet Moore; brother, Ronald David Fournet.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask the donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
