Renella Landry Boyer

Breaux Bridge, Louisiana - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at  1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Renella Landry Boyer, 81, who passed away at St. Agnes Health Care in Breaux Bridge.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Monday.

Fr. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass.  Readers will be Leslie Novosad and Emily Martinez Boyer.  Gift Bearers will be Geraldine Babineaux and Cheryl Sonnier.

Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

She was born into a family of Cajun sharecroppers, the eldest child of Lillian Chautin and Jules Landry.  As a girl, she worked in the fields, helping with the family’s seasonal harvest of cotton.  She graduated from Cecilia High School where she met the love of her life and future husband, Patrick Boyer of Nina, to whom she was married for 59 years.  She worked for several years as a bilingual English/French tourist information center assistant for the Bayou Teche Visitor’s Center in Breaux Bridge, where she enjoyed welcoming French-speaking tourists from around the world and sharing with them the many attractions that the Acadiana area has to offer.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, reading, and mending every torn shirt and pants of her husband, children, and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.  She loved cooking and baking homemade cakes, bread, cinnamon rolls, tarts, and pies, like her blackberry pie that everyone loved.  She was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson.  She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, generosity towards others, gentle smile, and infectious laugh.  She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.  Reste en paix, Mom, on t’aimeras toujours.

The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the nurses, chaplain, and staff at St. Agnes Nursing Home and Heart of Hospice for their compassion and support.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Boyer Martinez; sons, Randy Boyer and Anthony (Kaela) Boyer; grandchildren, Tyler Martinez, Chaz (Emily) Boyer and Zach Boyer; and her sister, Geraldine Babineaux.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Boyer; parents, Jules and Lillian Chautin Landry; and her brothers, Harry Landry, and Nelson Landry.

Pallbearers will be Anthony and Randy Boyer, Tyler Martinez, Chaz Boyer, Zach Boyer, and Gavin Novosad.
