St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Renella Pelafigue 92, who passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home. 
 
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 3:30 PM until 10:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. 
 
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 on Friday. 
 
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Jessica Gonsoulin and Vida Lege.  Gift bearers will be Madison Mestayer, Morgan Verret, and Emma Hoffpauir. 
 
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. 

Renella was born on September 14, 1930, in St. Martinville, to the late Milce and Elena LeBlanc.  A devout Catholic with immense faith, Renella served as Religion Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society for many years.  She was also very active in church activities, such as the annual church bazaar.  She loved praying the rosary daily offering special intentions for those in need. 

Renella was caregiver to neighbors, family and friends, and loved providing a hot cooked meal and a warm and welcoming home for anyone in need.  If you needed care or recovery after a procedure, she would invite you into her home and made sure you got the rest needed. 

As a pastime, Renella enjoyed going to the casino, dancing, and outings with family and friends.  She will be remembered for her generous heart, kindness, and her love for people. Renella was known for baking the best pecan pies and blackberry tarts; and if you received one you felt very special. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Denise (George) Mestayer and Arlene (Dale) Theriot; daughter-in-law, Connie Pelafigue; seven grandchildren; Monique Verret, Jason Pelafigue, Jed Mestayer, Lyndsie Ronsonet, Lauren Green, Jessica Mestayer, and John-Michael Theriot; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. 
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Milce and Elena Latiolais LeBlanc; husband, Henry Pelafigue; son, Harvey Pelafigue; brothers, Olan, Lloyd, Gilman, Faris, and Ovey LeBlanc; sister, Rita Dugas; grandchild, Joshua Pelafigue; and great grandchildren, twins Jesse and Jordon Verret. 
 
Pallbearers will be John-Michael Theriot, Jason Pelafigue, Coen Green, Jed Mestayer, Luke Verret and Myles Verret. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Landmark of Acadiana and their wonderful nurses, Charlene, Cathy and Corey,  The Wound Care, and her nurse, Bethany, and Traditions Health, especially Darian, for their compassion and outstanding care that was provided to Ms. Renella.
