St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church honoring the life of Richard James Duplantis, 83, who passed away on November 28, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
A visitation of the lifelong resident of St. Martinville will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Saturday from 8:30 AM to 10:45 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Saturday.
Rev. Jason Vidrine will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be RJ Robichaux.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Richard was born on October 31, 1942 in Saint Martinville. Upon graduating from St. Martinville High school, Richard enlisted in the National Guard while pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Science from the University of Southwestern in the field of Electrical Engineering, since he was particularly interested in Computers. Subsequently he spent the next 30 years pursuing a career in Computer Technology by working for International Business Machines (IBM).
In addition to his wife Pauline Anne Duplantis of 56 years, he is survived by one daughter: Pamela Ann Duplantis Krueger and Pat Krueger from Greensboro, North Carolina and one son: Michael James Duplantis and Alicia Cyrus Duplantis from Golden, Colorado as well as three grandchildren: William Patrick Krueger, Matthew Joseph Krueger from North Carolina and Alexis Michelle Duplantis from Colorado.
Richard is also survived by Ronald (Tony) Duplantis and his wife Kelly, Roberta Landry and her husband Reynolds, Randy Duplantis and his wife Dana as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Howard Joseph & Irene Vincent Duplantis as well as one brother Raymond Duplantis.
Family members who will serve as pallbearers will be Michael Duplantis, William Krueger, Matthew Krueger, Tony Duplantis, Ross Landry, and Randy Duplantis
The Honorary pallbearers will be Pamela Krueger & Patrick Krueger, Alicia Duplantis & Alexis Duplantis.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to the many healthcare providers who cared for Richard throughout the last 20 years. Their dedication & compassion helped him to enjoy a full and active life when he retired by having a big garden of fruits and vegetables for his family and traveling throughout the United States.
