New Iberia ;- Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Richard Buddy Elmer, 72, who died on Monday, September 28, 2009 in New Orleans. ; Interment will follow at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. ; Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. ; Born on December 23, 1936 in New Orleans, Mr. Elmer was a resident of Youngsville, and worked for Specialty Rental Tools and Supply. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. ; Survivors include his son, Rodney Elmer and wife Melissa of Laurel, MS; step daughters, Scarlet Abatie of Westwego, Gwen Schoudst of Slidell; grandchildren, Derek Elmer, Derk Sumrall, and Dalton Goddard all of Laurel, MS, Brandy Taylli of Westwego; and his pet Chihuahua, "Chloe". ; He was preceded in death a son, Leonard Ray Elmer; parents, Leonard Elmer and Irma Elmer; sisters, Ruby Boutte, and Mary Elmer. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
