Richard N. Phillips Sr

March 25, 1945 — December 3, 2013

New Iberia Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 6, 2013, at Faith Cathedral in New Iberia, for Richard N. Phillips, Sr., 68, who died on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Bishop Drew Rousse and Pastor Wanda Rousse will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Mr. Phillips was born on March 25, 1945, and was the son of David E. Phillips, Sr., and Georgia Katherine Bross Phillips. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam War, and worked as a fuel systems supervisor for a military contractor throughout the United States, Japan, and Guam. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially going to church. Survivors include wife, Debra Menard Phillips of New Iberia; children, Charity Dawn Phillips of Slidell, Alida Morton and husband Brian of Delcambre, Richard Phillips, Jr. and wife Ricki of New Iberia; sister, Beverly Phillips Schwing and husband James Schwing, Sr.; brother, David E. Phillips, Jr. and wife Phyllis Freyou Phillips of New Iberia; his wifes parents, Willis and Rita Menard of New Iberia; his wifes uncle, Felix Menard of New Iberia; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and his beloved pet dog, Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Richard Phillips, Jr., Brian Morton, Steven Schwing, Jimmy Schwing, Jr., David Phillips, III, and Alex Charles.
