Richard Landry, 84, of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, passed away at his home on September 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Breaux Bridge with French as his first language. Richard grew up working and learning about life on his father's farm alongside his 10 siblings. He had a lifelong love of animals and never shied away from a hard day's work. After attending 2 years at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, he proudly served 6 years in the National Guard.
In September of 1962, Richard married the love of his life, Charlotte Ketelers, and together they raised four daughters and shared 63 years of marriage filled with devotion, family, and laughter. Providing and caring for his family was behind every decision he made.
Richard began his career at SLEMCO before single-handedly building the industrial sales division at Statewide Supply from the ground up, growing it from zero to a multimillion-dollar success in Lafayette. He continued to work tirelessly until age 79, when he retired to keep Charlotte safe during COVID. His work ethic was unmatched, he never missed a day, and when he came home, he could fix or build anything. Over the years, he renovated the family home himself, even adding two bedrooms, and he completed another major addition well into his 70's.
Richard loved woodworking, was known to be a great cook, and could cut a rug when the time called for it. He was a fan of The Platters, football, and the simple joy of being outdoors. More than anything, he loved his family, and he poured his heart into caring for them in every way he could.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his daughters and their husbands, whom he loved as sons: Monica (William Bird), Ana Gabriella (Alejandro Mandujano), Camille (Scott Pinkerton), and Belle (Steven LeBlanc); and his eight cherished grandchildren: Maya, Emma, Miles, Elise, Evangeline, Sidney, Analise, and Tallulah Mae. He is also survived by his brothers, Norman (Elaine), Wade (Jean), Clayton (Virgie), Gene (Renella), and Ray Paul Landry; and his sister, Vicky Hebert.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Agnes Angelle Landry; his grandparents, Alphonse and Cecile Castille Angelle, and Cyrus and Armance Richard Landry; his brother, Ira Landry; and his sisters Isabelle, Mary Nell (Earl) Champagne, Fabian 'Faye' LeBlanc, and Patricia "Patsy" (Raymond) LeBlanc.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 2:00pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. Cremation will follow the service. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Richard's life starting on Wednesday at 8:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
Deacon Russell Hayes will officiate the funeral service.
We would like to offer a special thanks to Hope Hospice and his personal caregivers, Ms. Lou's staff and Kayla, for their compassionate care during his final days.
Richard's warmth, love, and quick wit will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who had the joy of knowing him.
