Rita Washington Alexander

Breaux Bridge Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Rita Washington Alexander, 68, who passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 12:30 pm on Saturday at Pellerin Funeral Home of Carver & Dauterive. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Richard Kalinowski will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Rita enjoyed flower gardening and cooking. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is survived by five sons, Dalton Alexander, Jr., Ronald Alexander, Tyrone (Jalessa) Alexander, Washington Alexander, and Kareem Alexander; three daughters, Pamella Alexander, Tammy (Charlie) Dugas, and Chantella Alexander, all of Breaux Bridge; her brother, Robert Johnson, Sr. of Breaux Bridge; two sisters, Angel (Tyrone) Hollins and Anna Marie Williams of Lafayette; 29 grandchildren and 9 grandchildren. Mrs. Rita also leaves to mourn a very special friend and companion, Mr. Caf Alexander, along with his children, who provided her with compassionate care during her time of illness; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lillian Martin Washington; husband, Dalton Alexander Sr.; son, Robert Alexander; grandson, Martin Alexander; great-granddaughter, Kaedance Steward; sister, Verna Mae Noel; brother, Junius Washington; half-sister, Cora Mae Tolliver; and half-brothers, Cornelius Johnson, and Freddie Johnson. Pallbearers will be Kareem Alexander, Washington Alexander, Treyvias Alexander, Denzell Alexander, Churphy Steward, and Marvin Johnson.
