Rita Guidry

Cecilia- Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Rita Willis Guidry, 81, who passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011 surrounded by her family. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will be the Celebrant. Dolly Willis and Blaise Guidry will proclaim the readings. Serving as gift bearers are Karen Guidry, Michelle Wich and Kate Guidry. Rita was employed by Robin's Restaurant for 13 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved music and dancing. Her favorite singer was Frank Sinatra. Rita was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family. Survivors include her sons, Michael Guidry and his wife, Jane of Denham Springs, Larry Guidry and his wife, Jamie of Breaux Bridge, Jimmy Guidry and his wife, Gina of Houston and Tony Guidry of Baton Rouge; her daughters, Margaret Trahan and her husband, Dale of Cecilia and Cheryl Green and her husband, Michael of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul 'Blanco' Guidry; her son, Tommy Guidry; her parents, Robert and Mozella Angelle Willis; her brothers, Frank 'Flo', Sidney, J. Burton Willis and Earl 'Mac' Willis; and her sisters, Genevieve Coles and Hazel Fruge. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Michael, Larry, Jimmy, Tony, Tyler, Trey and Travis Guidry. The family would like to thank her very caring and compassionate sitters, Margaret Duplechin, Linda Watkins, Laura Berard, Alice Allemond and Brenda Richard for their excellent care they provided throughout the years. Also a special thanks to Judy Dupuis for assisting with the coordination of sitters.
