St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Rita Greig Hernandez, 90, who passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the funeral Mass. Reverend Kenneth Bienvenu will concelebrate. Musical selections will be provided by soloist, Liz Blanchard, accompanied by organist, Billy Greig. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mrs. Hernandez was a lifelong parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where she served as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, serving as past Regent and District Deputy, St. Anthony's Guild, St. Martha's Guild, A.A.R.P. and the Woodmen of the World. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Frank, Rene, John, Mark, Kay, and Jan Bourraigue, Maxine Harris, Marianne Chauffe, Richard 'Ricky' Greig, Karl 'Pookie' Greig, Norvelle Belaire, Patsy Thibodeaux, Thomas 'Tom' Greig, Jr., and William 'Billy' Greig; and her close and dear friends, Gloria and Roy Boudreaux. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tertule 'T.J.' Hernandez; her parents, Franklin and Bazille Maraist Greig; two brothers, Thomas F. and Malcom 'Mac' Greig; and her sister, Madeline Bourraigue. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be Mark Bourraigue, Rene Bourraigue, John Bourraigue, Frank Bourraigue, Thomas 'Tom' Greig, and Roy Boudreaux.
