Rita Dolly Swanson

New Iberia Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Rita Dolly Swanson, 91, who died on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Deacon Theo Landry will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM Saturday. A native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Mrs. Swanson was born on March 2, 1923, and was the daughter of John Louis Sulivan, Sr., and Zulmay Boudreaux Sulivan. She enjoyed going to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Swanson; sisters, Linda S. Simon, Ella S. Perret, Belzile Belle S. Oubre, Elia S. Dugas; brothers, Julius Sulivan, Edward Andrew Sulivan, and John Louis Sulivan, Jr. Pallbearers will be Rayward Dugas, Rayward Dugas, Jr., Daniel Dore, Nelson Boudreaux, Ray Boudreaux, and Charles Picard. Honorary pallbearers include Vernon Dugas and Robert Escagne. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Maureen Sis Boudreaux, and Voneishia Doucet.
