For more than 50 years, Timmy owned Mallet's Barber Shop in the heart of Arnaudville, a familiar gathering spot for three generations of men. His barber chair was a place that felt like home, where stories of hunting and fishing were traded and those lucky enough to understand Cajun French could enjoy the jokes that he told. Timmy believed in hard work and took pride in staying busy. He often rose early to tend his garden, care for his cattle, and gather fresh eggs from his chickens. He was most at peace in the woods and waterways of Cajun Country, where crawfishing, deer hunting, weekends at the camp, and cooking for friends were among his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Tonya Stelly Mallet, who cared for him with unwavering devotion throughout his two-year battle with cancer and remained faithfully by his side until his final day; his mother, Leola Devillier Mallet; two daughters, Toni Breaux and her husband, Reggie and Trina Colpaart and her husband, Ryan; one son, Tyler Mallet; four grandchildren, Raegan Marceaux (Andrew), Alex Breaux, Chloe Colpaart, and Kase Colpaart; and four sisters, Wilda Dekerlegand (Deke), Connie Hargrave, Freida Patterson (Bob), and Kayla Taylor (Wendell). Timmy is also lovingly remembered by his daughters, Brooke Talbot and Rachael Tobias and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emery Mallet.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Mallet, Reggie Breaux, Ryan Colpaart, Alex Breaux, Chase Taylor, and Andrew Marceaux.
The family wishes to thank Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home and Hospice of Acadiana- Calcutta House for the comfort and care they provided to Timmy.
