St. Martinville - A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville, for Rock H. Lasserre, Jr., 81, who passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his residence in St. Martinville.
A visitation will take place on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.
A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM on Monday.
Msgr. Keith Derouen will officiate the Memorial service.
Readers will be Blake Joseph Barrios, DeWitt “Zene” David and Peter Piccone.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Michael Cemetery.
Rock was born on September 15, 1944, in Lafayette. He was a proud graduate of Lafayette High School, Class of 1962, and went1944, to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) now ULL, in 1969. During his time at USL, he was an active member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, forging lifelong friendships and creating lasting memories.
With a distinguished career, Rock served as the Director of Aviation at Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia, where he was known for his professionalism and commitment to excellence in the field. He had a remarkable ability to fix anything, a talent that extended to his passion for restoring old cars. Rock will be remembered as a loving husband, a dedicated professional, and a friend to many. May he rest in peace.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marcelle Bienvenu Lasserre; siblings, Pauline L. Perez and Sarah L. Declouet; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Lasserre; grandchild, Cameron Lasserre; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rock Lasserre, Sr.; mother, Helen Carter Lasserre; and his sons, Josh H. Lasserre and Ross M. Lasserre.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Declouet, Andre Declouet, Governor Jeff Landry, Benjamin Landry, Nicholas Landry, Marcel M. "Marty) Bienvenu II, Gerard Bienvenu, Patrick Caffery, Jacques Cousin, and Rick Derbonne.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers Beatriz A. Hewell, Gayle Johnson, and Haley Romero, with Acadian Home Care, and the staff of Heart of Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Rita Catholic Church, or St. Teresa Center for the Works of Mercy.
