Rodney Joseph Babineaux, Sr.

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Friday, July 15, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Churchs Borel Center in Breaux Bridge, for Rodney Joseph Babineaux, Sr., 87, who passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 9:45 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday. Rev. David Broussard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Rodney was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He started his business, Babineaux Slaughter House, in 1972 where he proudly served his community for 44 years. Rodney retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 25 years of service. He enjoyed camping, making Cajun microwaves, and helping his beloved wife bake cakes. Rodney will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving children, Rodney "Bab" Babineaux, Jr. and wife Pattie, Larry Babineaux and wife Ginger, and Connie Guidry and husband Shane; his grandchildren, Shawn Dugas and husband Jade, Laice Babineaux, Gina Champagne and husband David, Jared Guidry, and Shana Guidry; his great grandchildren, Riley and Charlie Dugas, Caleb Babineaux, Christopher and Levi Stevenson, Shanna Champagne, and Blair Clark; his brothers, Willie and Linton Babineaux; and his sister, Ludy Bernard. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy LeBlanc Babineaux; his parents, Willie and Marie Trosclair Babineaux; a grandson, Shannon Babineaux; and his siblings, Sully, Ernest, Percy and Wilfred Babineaux, Anna Lou Hollier, Anna Mae Guillory, and Clotille DeJean. Pallbearers will be Rodney "Bab" Babineaux Jr., Larry Babineaux, Laice Babineaux, Jared Guidry, Shane Guidry, and Richard LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Willie and Linton Babineaux. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Debra Durham and the staff of St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center, for the care given to Mr. Babineaux over the years.
