Broussard – Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Rodney Joseph Desormeaux, 61, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.

Rev. Keith Landry will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Friday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and will resume on Saturday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm Friday.

Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Anissa Thibodeaux Desormeaux; his parents, Marion and Lona Faye Primeaux Desormeaux; son, Dylan Joseph Desormeaux; stepson, Donovan Derouen, Jr. (Emily); grandson, Brylon Derouen; brothers, Randall Desormeaux (Lisa), and Jimmy Desormeaux (Liz); father-in-law, Simon Pete Thibodeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a niece, Misty Renee Desormeaux; nephew, Rivers Thibodeaux; maternal grandparents, Dewey and Lucille Faulk Primeaux; paternal grandparents, Emile and Lucy Meaux Desormeaux; and mother-in-law, Barbara Romero Thibodeaux.

Rodney Joseph Desormeaux was born in Abbeville, Louisiana on November 2, 1961. Rodney's life was a testament to his passion for family, friends, and the simple joys of life.

Upon graduating from New Iberia Senior High in 1979, Rodney embarked on a fulfilling career as a financial planner. His astute knowledge and unwavering commitment to helping others allowed him to touch the lives of numerous individuals and families who sought his guidance. Rodney's professionalism and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional success, Rodney possessed a vibrant personality that drew people towards him effortlessly. He had an adventurous spirit, and found solace in riding his motorcycle. The open road brought Rodney immense joy and freedom.


Rodney also found great pleasure in outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and going to the camp. These pursuits connected him with nature's tranquility, offering moments of reflection and escape from the demands of everyday life. His love for the outdoors served as a foundation for cherished memories shared with loved ones.

An avid LSU fan, Rodney's passion for the sport was infectious. The camaraderie fostered by this shared passion brought people together and created lasting bonds that extended far beyond sports.

Yet amidst these passions and endeavors, Rodney's greatest source of happiness came from spending time with his beloved family and friends. He cherished every moment shared in their company, taking delight in laughter-filled gatherings and heartfelt conversations that built the tapestry of his life. Rodney's genuine love and unwavering support were a constant source of strength for those fortunate enough to have known him.

Pallbearers are Dylan Desormeaux, Donovan Derouen, Jr., Randall Desormeaux, Tab Mestayer, Brent Romero, and Ricky Frioux.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Desormeaux, John Primeaux, Kerry “Tookey” Hebert, Logan Desormeaux, Jobb Mestayer, and Hayden Bonin.
