Roland J. Landry

August 7, 1943 — February 6, 2021

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Roland James Landry, 77, who passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm on Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm on Tuesday. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. The reader will be Brandy Landry. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. A graduate of Breaux Bridge High School, Roland honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He was retired from the residential and commercial construction business. As a pastime he enjoyed woodworking, arts and crafts, hunting, and drinking coffee while sitting outside under his patio watching the peaceful waters of the Bayou Teche flow by. Roland looked forward to getting together with his lifelong friends; some of them having known each other since the age of 5. On Wednesdays, you didn't bother the old, retired men. They would all show up at Roland's house, enjoying conversations in Cajun French, drinking coffee, and cooking or going out to eat lunch, which they had done for the past 50-plus years. Roland enjoyed daily visits with friends for coffee and breakfast at either McDonald’s or Waffle House, and eating out for lunch and dinner, but he especially loved going to Le Café on Fridays. Roland looked forward to visits from his family members - those visits he cherished most. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his two sons, Byron James (Melena) Landry and Blake Landry of Wichita, KS; his daughter, Brandy M. Landry of Breaux Bridge; and his companion, Kay Courville of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Breaux Landry; parents, Percy and Anaise Stoutes Landry; and his sister, Deanna Landry Reece. Pallbearers will be Bobby Landry, Kirk Landry, Wayne Landry, Kirby Landry, Doug Angelle, and Ronald Hebert. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wanda B. Landry Scholarship Fund, LSU Ag Center, 114 Courthouse St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
