Catahoula- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 21, 2011, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Ronald Anthony Lavergne, 55, who died on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery - Mausoleum in Catahoula. Fr. Richard Fabre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Brenda Verret. Ronald was employed by Cox Communications for the past 32 years. In his free time, Ronald enjoyed going camping, and playing golf. A man of many talents, he was also very skilled in the craft of wood working and loved playing the drums. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 12 years, Melinda Verret Lavergne of Breaux Bridge; two sons, William Lavergne and his fiance, Teri Talley, of Broussard, and Dillon Dupont of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Tammie Walpole and her husband, Sonny, of Cecilia, Angella Lavergne of Kerrville, TX, and Shanna Dor and her husband, Bret, of Parks; his mother, Angelina Menard Lavergne of Scott ; two brothers, Calvin Lavergne and his wife, Jackie, of Cankton, and Darrell Lavergne and his wife, Cherie of Carencro; three sisters, Ruby Richard and her husband, Shelton, of Scott, Linda Leger and her husband, Ray, of Scott, and Gloria Stelly and her husband, Mason, of Rayne; three grandchildren, Sydney and Leah Walpole and Sophie Dor; and his best friend, John Pomier. He was preceded in death by his father, Ovelian Lavergne; and two brothers, Horace and Willis Lavergne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall in Catahoula on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. and continue until 1:30 p.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Dillon Dupont, Sonny Walpole, Bret Dor, Will Lavergne, Rilius Verret, and Hunter Verret. Honorary pallbearers will be John Pomier, Calvin Lavergne, Darrell Lavergne, and Chris Reed. Pellerin Funeral Home, (337.332.2111), is in charge of arrangements.
