New Iberia – Arrangements are pending for Rosalind Prade Blaze, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in New Iberia.
Rosalind Prade Blaze, a beloved educator and cherished family matriarch, was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on June 1, 1945. She lived a life dedicated to fostering knowledge and compassion in the hearts of her students and the community.
Having obtained her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Xavier University, Rosalind devoted many years to the Orleans Parish School District, where she inspired countless young minds and cultivated a love for learning. She encouraged children to use and work with their hands. Her impact was felt far beyond the classroom, as she worked tirelessly to uplift those less fortunate. Driven by a profound empathy for others, she dedicated herself to making a difference in the lives of those who needed it most.
Rosalind possessed a vibrant spirit that radiated through her hobbies. She found joy in the delicate art of crochet, knitting, art, and needlepoint, creating tokens of love that warmed the hearts of her family and friends. She delighted in the beauty of flowers, savoring their fleeting presence, and cherished time spent watching tennis and baseball, often with an infectious enthusiasm that drew others in.
Above all, Rosalind was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and grace, a testament to a life well-lived.
Mrs. Blaze is survived by her loving husband, Edward Blaze; son, Victor J. Narcisse, III, MD, FACP, FHM, (Holly) of Houston, TX; daughter, Angelique Valteau (Ferdinand) of New Iberia; brothers, Scody Prade (Pam) and Terry Prade (Claudia) of St. Martinville; and six grandchildren, Isabella Valteau, Ian Valteau, Elise Valteau, Evan Valteau, Alexander “Alex” Narcisse, and Ethan Narcisse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Anthony and Amelia Emmer Prade; and first husband, Victor Joseph Narcisse, Jr.
As we remember Rosalind, we celebrate a woman who embodied warmth and love in every aspect of her life. Her spirit will remain with us, inspiring us to continue her work of compassion and dedication to one another. May she rest in peace.
