St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Roy J. Pourciaux, 49, who passed away on October 23, 2025, at Ochsner American Legion Hospital.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Fr. Michael Champagne will officiate at the funeral service.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Roy was born on July 6, 1976, in Lafayette. He participated in The Arc of St. Martin, where he formed strong bonds with friends and staff who became family to him.
Therapeutic activities and outings played an important role in Roy's life. They provided him with moments of respite and allowed him to explore the beauty of the world.
Dancing was another of Roy's passions. Whether it was in the comfort of his own home or at social gatherings, he would move to the rhythm with grace and joy. His infectious energy lit up the dance floor, inspiring others to let loose and embrace the music.
Roy will be remembered as a gentle soul whose small joys made life brighter for everyone around him. He found happiness in the things he loved most - Paw Patrol, a Sonic M&M Blast on a good day, and the simple pleasure of sharing laughter with others.
For many years, Roy took pride in his work on the janitorial staff serving the parish government building and City Hall. His dedication, reliability, and friendly presence left a lasting impression on coworkers and staff alike. He continued his commitment to serving the community through his employment at the Arc Thrift Store, where his kindness touched the lives of customers and fellow employees every day.
Roy's warmth, sincerity, and playful spirit will be deeply missed. Those who knew him will carry forward memories of his smile, his humor, and his quiet strength.
May he rest peacefully, surrounded by the joy he so freely gave to others.
He is survived by many friends and his wonderful staff at the home, Janet Pierre, Judy Bourque, Emily Armstead and Deedra Sheppard.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Janelle Daigle Hebert; and his brother, Troy Pourciaux.
Pallbearers will be Aleece Belaire, Lastaysia Rubin, Shirley Broussard, Madison Toups, Kelly Latiolais, Shana Rebert, and TJ Rebert.
A special thanks to nursing staff for the compassionate care they gave Roy, Hannah Faucheaux and Stephanie Latiolais. Also, a special thanks to Kerrie Latiolais and Anne Theriot whom Roy thought the world of and to all the Arc staff who provided care to him on a daily basis at the day program.
