Breaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 20, 2025 at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of Russell J. Angelette, 79, who passed away on October 16, 2025 at his residence.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Sunday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will continue on Monday from 7:00 am to 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Jill Cheramie and Jeanine LeBlanc. Gift bearers will be Paige Angelette and Della Angelette.
Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Russell was born on May 10, 1946 in Cut Off, He dedicated life to his family and his work. Russell honorably served in the National Guard. He worked as an accountant with The Superior Oil Company before retiring from Louisiana Sugar Cane Products (LSCP) after many years.
Russell was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees, contributing to the betterment of his community through numerous volunteer efforts. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and made his Cursillo. At one time he served on the board of the Breaux Bridge Youth Sports Association, supporting local youth and fostering a love of sports in the next generation. A favorite event he enjoyed attending was Cruisin’ the Coast. Known for his love of cutting grass, BBQing, and cheering on his favorite football teams, he cherished spending time with his family above all. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cheryl LeBlanc Angelette; two children, Monica Angelette and Gregory Angelette (Michelle); siblings, Ricky Angelette (Mitzie) and Chris "Tran" Angelette; grandchildren, Paige Angelette and Dylan Angelette (Della); and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Tate Angelette.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo Angelette and Netila Autin Angelette; paternal grandparents, Olivier and Nolia Angelette; and brother, Gerald P. Angelette.
Pallbearers will be Garland Latiolais, Brook Angelette, Robby Angelette, Bucky Angelette, Dylan Angelette, and Elliott LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Angelette, Ricky Angelette, Rocky Angelette, Hobie Angelette, Richie Angelette, Reese Angelette, Ian LeBlanc, Jody LeBlanc, Shane LeBlanc, Donald LeVasseur, John LeVasseur, Jerry LeVasseur, Robert LeBlanc, Jense Veasay, Anthony Pitre, Nathan Cheramie, and Hubert Hebert.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of his doctors, Oschner St. Martin Hospital, Oschner Lafayette General, UMC, STAT Home Health, and Hospice of Acadiana.
