Sandra Hebert Lancon

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2026, for Sandra Ann Hebert Lancon, 75, who passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.

A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday.

Sandra was born in Weeks Island, Louisiana on March 31, 1951, to Wallace and Agnes Hebert. She was the fourth of six children and raised on Weeks Island, where she spent her early years surrounded by family, community, and the people she loved.

Sandra married the love of her life, Leonard Lancon, Jr., and together they built a beautiful family and raised two children, Jeremy and Shelley.

Sandra was a woman who could do just about anything, but one of her greatest gifts was her talent with a needle and thread. She worked for many years at Backstage, a local clothing store, where she became an exceptional seamstress. She repaired and altered clothing for countless people and could seemingly turn a piece fabric into anything she imagined. Her talent extended far beyond her work; she made her daughter’s prom dresses, beautiful dresses for her nieces, as well as her own dress for her daughter’s wedding, and alterations for anyone in need. She never hesitated to use her gift to make something special for someone else. Her hands were always busy creating, repairing, and helping. Her talent brought joy to so many people.

After her years at Backstage, Sandra began working at Catholic High School where she served as the cafeteria manager for many years before retiring.

Sandra and Leonard shared a love for bowling. What began as a hobby they enjoyed doing together because a passion that would take Sandra across the country. She continued bowling for many years, participating in a women’s league and travelling to numerous tournaments. Through bowling, she made lifelong friendships and created countless memories.

Above all else, Sandra cherished her family. She loved spending time with her friends and loved ones, but her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. As the years went by, her great-grandchildren became an even greater source of joy. She treasured every moment spent with them.

Sandra also shared a very special bond with her mother, Agnes. She loved spending time with her and doing whatever she could to care for and help her. Her devotion to her family was one of the many qualities that made her so special.

Sandra enjoyed the simple things that brought her happiness: good music, good friends, and family time. She loved playing Pokeno. Listening to country, zydeco, and Cajun French music brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.

Sandra will be remembered for her loving heart, her generous spirit, her incredible talent, her sense of family, and the countless ways she used her hands and her heart to take care of the people she loved. She leaves behind a legacy woven into every dress she made, every garment she repaired, every tournament she bowled, every family gathering she cherished, and most importantly, in the lives of the people she loved.

Mrs. Lancon is survived by her son, Jeremy Lancon (Vickie); daughter, Shelley Lancon Legnon (Devin); mother, Agnes Landry Hebert; grandchildren, Micah, Noah, and Jagger; great-grandchildren, Connor and Skai; and siblings, Gracie Hebert, Rory Hebert (Laurie), and Lucien Hebert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “Dobie” Lancon, Jr.; father, Wallace J. Hebert, Sr.; brothers, Wallace J. Hebert, Jr. and Phillip Hebert; brother-in-law, Kirby Hebert, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Sherry Hebert.

Pallbearers will be Noah Legnon, Jagger Legnon, Elby Lancon, Jr., and Justin Lancon.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your work here is finished, but the love you stitched into our lives will never come undone.
