Scottey Ray Broussard, lovingly known by many names including "Rufas Alavaster Jamal Paul James the 3rd" and proudly self declared as a 25 year old with 22 years experience (47) lived a life as a bold, unforgettable, and joy filled man.
A karaoke super star, fisherman, hunter, and zydeco dancer; Scottey didn't just live, he performed life. Whether he was casting a line, dancing to a good beat, or singing his heart out (on or off key). He made every moment entertaining, and if you were nearby you were part of the show whether you liked it or not.
Known affectionately as the tease meister; Scottey had a sharp wit and a heart of gold. His kids were his favorite audience, and during years of relentless (but always loving) banter from a man who proudly turned teasing into an art form. A proud entrepreneur, Scottey wore many hats as the owner of several businesses: La Cajun Assassin Taxidermy, Water Boyz Swamp Adventures, and Scottey Broussard's On site RV Repair; each one reflecting his bold spirit, work ethic, and deep Cajun roots.
His children and grandchildren were his whole world; every story, every joke, every part of his day always circled back to them. He was endlessly proud of his children. Dylan, a hard working man who carried the families legacies with strength and honor; Tannie, whose quiet resilience and fierce determination never wavered, always standing strong through every challenge; Aryel, a loving and devoted mother, who poured her heart in to her family; Zoe' whose brilliance and dedication in school and life inspired everyone around her, and made his beam with pride. Spending time with his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and he cherished every moment he got to share with them. He always made sure the world knew just how proud he was of the family he loved so deeply.
To most he was Scottey, but to his kids he was "THE KANG".
Scottey shared his life and heart with Amanda Ann Jacquneaux, the love of his life and his wife of 22 years. They were married on September 1, 2003, and together they built a life full of laughter, adventure, and a whole lot of personality. They were best friends, and at times the funniest kinds of enemies. Always bickering like the classic old couple everyone knew and loved. Through every trial and tribulation, through literal sickness and health, they stood side by side. Their bond wasn't perfect, but it was real; built on laughter, stubbornness, deep care, and unwavering commitment. Some of their favorite things to do together were dancing, eating, traveling, singing, and entertaining anyone lucky enough to be in their orbit. Fittingly, the very last thing they did together was dance, a final beautiful moment that said everything about the rhythm they shared in life and love.
But above all else Scottey was a God fearing man. He lived with faith in his heart, strength in his spirit, and compassion in his actions. He knew joy was a gift from God and he shared that gift freely with everyone he met.
Born June 10, 1978, Scottey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, loyalty, and a family who will carry his faith and his fire for generations.
