Shane Patrick Smith Sr.

New Iberia – Funeral Services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Monday, June 10, 2024, for Shane Patrick Smith Sr., 50, who passed away at his Youngsville home, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, June 6, 2024. 

Rev. Durk Viator will be the Officiant. 

Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. 

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will resume on Monday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. 

A rosary, led by Ben LeBleu, will be prayed at 5:00 pm on Sunday. 

Shane Patrick Smith Sr. was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on June 21, 1973, to the late Clark and Tilda Primeaux Smith. Shane was a skilled carpenter known for his attention to detail and organization. His passion for his craft extended from residential to marine industrial projects.
 
Outside of work, Shane found joy in tackling home improvement projects and spending countless hours tinkering in his garage. His hobby of building model cars showcased his dexterity and love for craftsmanship. Shane's green thumb was evident in the beautiful flowers he grew, a testament to his patience and dedication.
 
Shane immersed himself in the world of VR Poker, where he not only found entertainment but also forged many meaningful friendships that provided solace during his illness. An avid sports fan, he relished cheering for his favorite teams. He also loved family vacations. Shane valued family time, especially with his beloved grandson, Kellan. Their bond was a source of immense happiness and contentment for him. He will be deeply missed. 

Shane is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie McAcy Smith; children, Hailey Smith (Nick Landry), and Shane Smith Jr.; grandson, Kellan Landry; siblings, Tanya Migues (Shawn), Shantelle Romero (Kirk), and Jake Smith (Jennifer); parents-in-law, Barbara and David McAcy; sister-in-law, Carrie McAcy; and a goddaughter, Brittany Russell. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a sister, Brandie Sons. 

Pallbearers will be Shane Smith Jr., Nick Landry, Jake Smith, Michael Norwood, Jordi Norwood, and Russell Whiting. Honorary pallbearer is David McAcy. 

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana for extraordinary care and compassion; and to their family, friends and work families at IMC and Metal Shark for your love and support during this difficult time. 

Shane will be remembered for his hardworking nature, creative spirit, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever held dear. May he rest in peace.
