Funeral services for Sheila Jean Gottschalk, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, with Rev. Buddy Breaux officiating.
Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Sheila Jean (Reichman) Gottschalk, 36, of New Iberia, Louisiana died on November 2, 2010, after suffering an acute asthma attack. Sheila was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on January 28, 1974. Her sparkling golden-brown eyes, kind heart and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Sheila was a devoted wife of 18 years to John Gottschalk, and loving mother to Kimberly (17) and John Michael (7). Her down to earth personality and sweet nature endeared her to people and animals alike.
In a recent Facebook post, she wrote, 'Hello to everyone. Tomorrow is another week, so please everyone have a wonderful week. Remember to live each day as if it was your last. Remember that someone out there loves you. Like me. LOL Sheila. : )
Her compassion for others, and her selflessness, compelled her to donate her organs so that she could give the gift of life. Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) said her thoughtfulness will save more than one life. The recipients who benefit from this loving last act will know what her family and friends already know. She was a beautiful person, inside and out.
Sheila is survived by her husband, John Gottschalk, children Kimberly and John Michael, mother-in-law best friend Carol Land, beloved Grandmother Elsie Merkle, mother Judith Brown, father Bob Reichman Sr., sisters Sherry Bland, Judy Blackburn, Annette Brown, Tammy Jo Brown, Minnie Lee Darby, Angelina Reichman, Krystal Reichman, Samantha Reichman, Deborah Pell, JoAnne Walker and brothers Charles Reichman, Kevin Brown, Kenneth Brown, William Reichman Keith, Robert Reichman Keith, Lee Whitaker, Pete Brown, David Brown and Charlie Brown.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Charles Dale Merkle and paternal grandparents, W.C. and Minnie Reichman.
Pallbearers will be Justin Reichman, William Reichman Keith, Keith Miller, Bob Reichman, Sr., John V. Gottschalk and Kelly Aucoin.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Saturday at 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
