Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Shirby Blanchard, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 10:30 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm on Friday.
Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Service. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Born on September 7, 1938, in Cecilia, Louisiana, Shirby was a man who epitomized hard work, love, and dedication.
Shirby spent his adult life as a roughneck in the oilfield, a role that kept him away from home for long stretches, but allowed him to provide for his beloved family. His commitment to his work was matched only by his deep love for those he held dear. He relished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Outside of work, Shirby found solace and happiness in the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes and he took great pride in tending to his yard.
Shirby was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Sindy Colar and Debbie Guidry (Ricky); son, Chad Blanchard (Ali); sister, Audrey Warren (Bill); grandchildren, Tatiana Colar Sykes (Robert) and Taylor Colar; and great-grandchildren, Camden Colar and Elijah Talbot.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lois Huval Blanchard; son-in-law, Carroll Colar; grandson, Ty Colar; parents, Almicar Blanchard and Nursey Eddy Blanchard; and brother, Curley Blanchard, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Chad Blanchard, Ricky Guidry, Taylor Colar and Robert Sykes.Honorary
Pallbearers will be Camden Colar and Elijah Talbot.
