Shirley Guidry Chastant

St. Martinville - A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville for Shirley Guidry Chastant, 84, who passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Iberia Medical Center.

Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the graveside service.

A native of St. Martinville and a resident of Lafayette, Shirley was born on October 19, 1941 to the late Luke Guidry and Bertha Delahousaye Guidry.

She enjoyed calling Bingo for the residents of Maison de Goodwill and drinking coffee with friends. Shirley also cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and she enjoyed crocheting.

She is survived by her daughters, Gwen Melancon (George), Debbie Oubre (Keenan) and Connie Theriot; grandchildren, Tara Stubbs, Casey Toucheck, Fallon Toucheck, Shelby Oubre and Danielle Oubre; and great-grandchildren, Phillip and Dillan Leger, Harley Holland, Chloe Stubbs, Amari James and Kaiser, Kaden and Ariana Toucheck.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dickie" Chastant; parents, Luke and Bertha Delahoussaye Guidry; sisters, Jeanette Champagne, Ruby Thibodeaux and Barbara Touchet; and brother, Norris Guidry.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Nursing Specialties Home Health for all of their care and support, especially nurse, Anthony and physical therapist, Jason.
