St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Notre Dame Catholic Church honoring the life of Shirley Ann Pierre Drake, 81, who passed away on May 29, 2026.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 AM on Saturday.
Burial will follow at House of Love Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Shirley dedicated her life to her family and her work in health and sanitation, retiring after many years of service from St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. She was known for her warmth and love for her family and friends. Shirley took great joy in cooking, traveling, and visiting with those closest to her. One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo, where she often found joy and laughter with friends.
She is survived by her children, Dedria Pickney (George), Yolanda Sonnier (Anthony), Robert Drake (Charlotte) and Ronald Drake; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Albert Pierre, Theresa Lencrerot, Roy Pierre and Cecilia Felix; nieces and nephews Kendrick Bergeron, Melissa Moris, Linda Abraham and Carolyn James; and her godchildren, Sandra Sam and William Leon.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jason Drake; parents, Desire and Gladys Charles Pierre; siblings, James Bergeron, Helen Calais, Desire Pierre, Helen Calais and Lou Ann Joseph; grandchildren, Johnathan Pickney and Robert Drake, Jr; and her godchild, Gerald Joseph.
Pallbearers will be Robert Drake, Anthony Sonnier, Russell Drake, Ronald Drake, Latrell Lewis and Antonio Drake.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
