Sidney Berard

Coteau Holmes - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Church in Coteau Holmes for Sidney Berard, 87, who passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at his residence. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Saturday from 7:30 am until 10:00 am.

A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Saturday morning by Irma DeBlanc. 

Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Sidney honorably served in the National Guard for nine years. He was a loyal boat captain in the oilfield for over 40 years; most notably working for Ed Broussard Marine Service. 

Sidney's greatest passion was fishing. He also loved his cat, Lucky, dearly. Sidney was so proud to have been a heart transplant patient over 26 years ago. He truly knew how blessed he was to have been able to live so long post transplant. Sidney was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gene L. Berard; sons, Armond Berard (Leilani) and Brian Berard (Amy); daughter, Nicole Riley (Nicolas); grandchildren, Brent Berard, Drew Berard and Cole Riley; and his uncle, Lennis Bellot. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Savie Berard and Amiee Bellot Berard; daughter, Charlene Berard; brother, Jerry Berard; and sister, Elaine Gardemal.

Pallbearers will be Brian Berard, Armond Berard, Nicolas Riley, Brent Berard, Drew Berard and Cole Riley. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hope Hospice, especially nurses: Bobbi and Elaine; and also to a special family friend, Malinda.
