Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am, on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church's Borel Center in Breaux Bridge, for Sidney Greg "Heavy Dude" Broussard, 62, who passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Respects may be given to his family members on Thursday, May 5th, beginning at 10 am until time of service, at the Borel Center in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Brian Webre will officiate at the Memorial Mass. Assisting Fr. Webre at the altar will be Ross Perrodin. Vocalists will be his godchildren, Jeremy Perrodin and Lydie Broussard. Readers will be Stacey Perrodin, Michelle Guilbeau, and Adria Theriot. Gift Bearers will be his three sisters, Deborah Fuselier, Barbara Perrodin, and Sheila Broussard. Inurnment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
In Sidney's younger years he worked at the family business, Delcambre Slaughter House. He then started working in the oil field as a heavy equipment operator. Sidney traveled the United States working with hazardous materials, such as Anthrax in the Washington, D.C. area. He assisted during the cleanup and restoration of 9/11, and later received an appreciation letter from President George Bush for his time and dedication during our countrys time in need.
He loved playing music, especially the harmonica and singing. Sidney was a member of numerous bands including, "Blac Dog," "Still Young," and "Beer Can Boogie Band," just to name a few. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and he was a great cook. Sidney loved to watch his garden and flowers grow and his grandchildren liked to help him pick the blackberries and figs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Ethel Theriot Broussard; mother, Mary Anne Broussard; son, Adam Broussard; daughter, Sydnie Broussard Thibodeaux and husband Colin; sisters, Deborah Fuselier, Barbara Perrodin and husband Kenzie, and Sheila Broussard; grandchildren, Lane Broussard, Corrine Thibodeaux, Ruby Thibodeaux, and Preston Greg Broussard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Sidney Joseph Broussard; maternal grandparents, Pressley Beb and Lydie Broussard Delcambre; paternal grandparents, Gustave and Irma Dubois Broussard; and uncle, Pressley Delcambre, Jr.
