Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in New Iberia for Sophie Maturin Rogers, 72, who died Monday, April 11, 2011 at her residence in Coteau. Entombment will follow in the Our Lady of Prompt Succor mausoleum. Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant of the funeral mass. Scriptures will be read by Anna Hanson. Gifts will be presented to the Altar by her grandsons, Chaz Maturin and Hunter Rogers. Born on August 21, 1938 in Youngsville, Sophie has been a lifelong resident of Coteau. She enjoyed going to the casino and she loved to cook for her family, her passion in life was taking care of others. She will be loved always and missed greatly by the many people whose life in which she made a difference. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Rogers of Coteau; sons, Ronnie Guilbeau, his wife Cindy of Broussard, Sonny Guilbeau of Coteau, Jimmy Wayne Rogers, his wife Danielle of West Virginia; daughters, Sheila Maturin, her husband Ronald of Coteau, Charlotte Maturin, her companion Kim LeBlanc of New Iberia, Connie Bailey of Coteau; brothers, Louis and Curley Maturin of Coteau; sisters, Olive Norris, of New Iberia, Mary Champagne of St. Martinville; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her parents, Averal and Rosalie Segura Maturin; brothers, Wilson and Lastie Maturin; sister, Lillian Sonnier. Pallbearers will be Cody Guilbeau, Dusty Guilbeau, Chaz Maturin, Ryan Longman, Hunter Rogers and Anthony Guilbeau. Honorary pallbearers include Ed Norris, Dillion Winn and Kim LeBlanc. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM and will remain open all night until 10:00 AM on Thursday at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia .
