Stephen 'Malo' Cormier

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Stephen "Malo" Cormier, 88, who passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Stephen Pellessier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The reader will be Faith Hollier and gift bearers will be Misty Hollier and Blaire Walton. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Stephen, better known as Malo, was born in Breaux Bridge to the late Damas and Odelia Belaire Cormier. He proudly served 23 years in the United States Army National Guard, before retiring. Malo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joycelyn Alleman Cormier; son, Carl Lee Cormier and wife Jennifer; daughters, Susan Cormier Belaire and husband Kenneth, and Janice Cormier Belaire and husband Patrick; grandchildren, Misty Hollier, Blaire Walton, Seth Cormier, Jordy Belaire, Danielle Harrison, Jamie Belaire, and Hutch Cormier; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Dale Cormier; an infant daughter, Geraldine Cormier; two sisters; and five brothers. Pallbearers will be Seth Cormier, Jordy Belaire, Jamie Belaire, Hutch Cormier, Kenneth Belaire, and Patrick Belaire.
